Security mechanism set to detect, deflect or in some way counteract  unauthorised attempts to use systems or data. Usually, it appears as part of a web-site with data or resources of interest to potential attackers, but in fact it is isolated, monitored, and used as ”bait” to understand the intentions or strategies of attackers.
