Spoofing comprende
1) la capacità di ricevere un messaggio attraverso un camuffamento della destinazione legittima di ricezione, oppure
2) camuffamento della macchina mittente e con l'invio del messaggio a una destinazione.

1. Simulare un indirizzo mittente di una trasmissione al fine di ottenere un accesso illegale al sistema di sicurezza. Impersonificazione, camuffamento, piggybacking, e mimicking sono forme di spoofing.
